Glasshouse tomato, capsicum and cucumber growers will soon have greater access to international plant breeding technology as seed brand De Ruiter expands its New Zealand presence.
From January, protected growers will be able to purchase De Ruiter and Seminis seed from an extensive range of distributors across the north and south islands. They will also have access to a dedicated, experienced De Ruiter Business Manager, Mark Dunning, who will service the needs of the region’s growers.
Monsanto Vegetable Seeds General Manager Ben Hoodless said the new distribution model will give New Zealand customers more direct access to De Ruiter’s international network of protected culture experts.
“New Zealand glasshouse growers have advanced greatly since we first entered the market here nine years ago.
“They’re looking to provide their markets with premium, innovative and profitable products. They’re looking for the latest trends out of Europe, the best methods of grafting, the best rootstock.
“We’ve looked at our own business model in New Zealand and realised there were some things we could do to help growers have a closer relationship with De Ruiter and Seminis, while expanding our reach at the same time.”
De Ruiter seed will be available for purchase from all current Seminis retailers from 1 January 2017.
